About meg

I think planets are cool! I'm a new graduate student in Planetary Science at Caltech, and at the moment I'm interested in planetary geophysics of terrestrial planets and moons. I'm originally from Cortlandt Manor, NY, and I did my undergrad at MIT, where I got heavily involved in student theater - a hobby I hope to continue through grad school, time permitting... I also like to read sci-fi/fantasy novels, obsess about English history, and play frisbee.

Wicked!

We cashed in on my birthday present yesterday and went to see Wicked in Hollywood =)  It was really good!  I thought the story was well put-together, and Sonja says the book is good too, so sometime I have to … Continue reading

Some Pictures

Here are some pictures from my field trip.  I only took a few, and there aren’t any scalebars, so my apologies to the geologists out there =) Kelso Dunes at sunset.  We camped just a few hundred feet away from … Continue reading

Where did the weekend go?

Into neat geology and desert beauty, for the most part.  And also sunburn and muscle aches (the legitimate kind – there was plenty to eat).  It was really fun for a class field trip – no need to frantically write … Continue reading

and back again

Had a good weekend, but it’s amazing how two 5-hour flights can shrink it down.  It’s Monday again already!  Anyway, I went to my first Passover seder, and saw my parents really briefly, and got little snippets of work done.  … Continue reading

Early weekend for me

I’m flying to Philadelphia tomorrow morning with Jon for Passover, so today was sort of like Friday, at least in that all my problem sets had to be done…but I finished them *whew*.  Totally randomly, my parents will also be … Continue reading

90-degree weekend

That’s hot even for here in April…but I guess it’s supposed to get back to the 60’s this week. Also, read this book: It’s about the ice cores in Greenland, and it’s written by someone who knows what he’s talking … Continue reading

Jupiter is cool =)

I was going through some of the Jupiter images for my second proposition project and I found some with a moon in them =) So cool!  I think it has to be Io, but I’m not sure.  I’ll try to … Continue reading

Sarcastic Fringehead

That’s the name of one of the fish we saw at the aquarium, native to California I guess.  I thought the name was funny, but it’s a pretty ugly fish: On Sunday we went to Venice Beach and walked around … Continue reading
