Once more into the breach…

Ok, cheesy title for a blog post, but that’s a little like how I feel.  Classes start again on Monday, and I’ve got to get myself back into the work-all-the-time mode.  I had a good vacation, saw a lot of family and a few friends besides, read some frivolous books, and played too much of this travel IQ game (but I know so much more now!).

Things that I have to move on quickly now include:

  1. The LPSC abstract, which is due on Tuesday – maybe we’ll submit it, maybe we won’t?
  2. Finding a second project for sure.  I might start this today if I run into the right professors.
  3. Figuring out classes.  They’re all set except for the ones I want to audit.  I probably only have time to continue with the Latin class, but there’s a history class that I think would be fun too.  I won’t need more to do, though, so it kind of depends on my impression from the first class.  The ones I’m actually registering for are:
    • Ge 102: Introduction to Geophysics
    • Ge/Ae 160b:  The other half of Continuum Mechanics
    • Ge 131: Planetary Structure and Evolution – looking forward to that one!
    • Ge 156: Topics in Planetary Surfaces – a seminar led by Oded, my advisor.

Slightly less of a load than last quarter.

  4. Maybe trying to find out about theater arts program again?  Maybe someone will do something this time..

Also, Melanie just started a Sci-Fi book club with a few friends, so that will be fun too, provided I can find the time to read the book!

That’s it really.  Busy busy…

About meg

I think planets are cool! I'm a new graduate student in Planetary Science at Caltech, and at the moment I'm interested in planetary geophysics of terrestrial planets and moons. I'm originally from Cortlandt Manor, NY, and I did my undergrad at MIT, where I got heavily involved in student theater - a hobby I hope to continue through grad school, time permitting... I also like to read sci-fi/fantasy novels, obsess about English history, and play frisbee.
