The heatwave has passed.

And none too soon – I was beginning to think the whole summer would be miserable!  Today seems much more reasonable, though, with a high of just 90 (not 105).

I got back into town on Tuesday night last week, and I’ve been working on getting back into the grad school groove.  It’s kind of hard.  There’s a lot to be distracted by, and with no classes, distraction seems a lot harder to justify.  I’ve finally started to move out of my apartment, which is kind of a relief because it will be nice to finally go through all of the stuff I’ve accumulated and put it in one place.  I will miss how convenient my apartment was, though.  The inspection is tomorrow, and then I have to turn in the keys.

In other news, my first softball game is tonight, for the C-league seismo lab team (the Love Waves, ick).  I’m also playing for a D-league team on Tuesday nights (the Asteroid Pirates).  We had a practice last night.  I’m really sore, so I hope I don’t embarrass myself much tonight, and I hope I’m not even more sore tomorrow…

About meg

I think planets are cool! I'm a new graduate student in Planetary Science at Caltech, and at the moment I'm interested in planetary geophysics of terrestrial planets and moons. I'm originally from Cortlandt Manor, NY, and I did my undergrad at MIT, where I got heavily involved in student theater - a hobby I hope to continue through grad school, time permitting... I also like to read sci-fi/fantasy novels, obsess about English history, and play frisbee.
