About meg

I think planets are cool! I'm a new graduate student in Planetary Science at Caltech, and at the moment I'm interested in planetary geophysics of terrestrial planets and moons. I'm originally from Cortlandt Manor, NY, and I did my undergrad at MIT, where I got heavily involved in student theater - a hobby I hope to continue through grad school, time permitting... I also like to read sci-fi/fantasy novels, obsess about English history, and play frisbee.

The wheel weaves as the wheel wills…

Robert Jordan, the author of one of my favorite fantasy series, the Wheel of Time, passed away yesterday. He was diagnosed with a terminal illness last year, so I guess it’s not really a surprise, but I really thought he … Continue reading

Hehe today I took up glass mosaic-making. Why? You know, I couldn’t tell you…I just walked through Michael’s and got excited about it. So far it’s fun, and not too hard to get the hang of, although my apartment is … Continue reading

It feels like fall!

Well, kinda. In the mornings and evenings. If you don’t expect the leaves to change. It did get a lot cooler since last week, and for that I’m very grateful…106 degrees is not what I would choose, and the humidity–while … Continue reading

Joining the flip flop nation?

I’ve always kind of hated flip flops, and all other kinds of thong sandals, because they hurt my toes, are often uncomfortable, and make that horrible sound.  Since moving here, however, I have to say, grudgingly, that they’re actually growing … Continue reading

Conferences + The Week Reduced!

Today I found out that I can totally go to AGU this year and just hang out and go to talks and meet people, even though I’m a new grad student and have nothing to show for myself yet.  Yay!  … Continue reading
