TV

I usually don’t watch that much TV, but lately it’s been on while I’ve attempted to do my homework at night (my new goal is to not do homework while I’m in my office as much as possible).  A few things that have surprised me over the last couple of weeks:

  • The Caltech representative on College Jeopardy! didn’t get very far, mostly because he couldn’t remember the right pair of brothers who directed the Matrix trilogy…I thought for sure the Caltech kid would know that..
  • I actually know one of the geeks on Beauty and the Geek.  I’d never seen it until last night, the season finale, and it turns out the 2nd place geek is from my class at MIT, and now an EAPS grad student.  I didn’t know him that well, but I knew his girlfriend when I was a freshman.  Huh.
  • The “plus-size” girl won America’s Next Top Model.  I can’t believe I actually enjoy watching this show, but I do.  It’s hard to admit.  I like the photoshoots…they’re just fun and bogus and come out looking amazing even though it usually doesn’t seem like they should… I blame Jet Blue for those little TVs they have in the seats…I never would have watched 4 hours of it in a row if it hadn’t been for that…for the record, I still think Tyra Banks is really annoying.

Those are all my revelations about TV for a while.  I’ve (slowly) been finishing the third season of Slings & Arrows (which is *so* good, by the way!) and the first season of 24, which I never actually saw, since I got into my sister’s 24 craze when she was on the 2nd season.  I’m excited for So You Think You Can Dance to start again…these shows make me feel undertalented, but they’re really impressive.  If only they would cut the judges, or just not let them talk.  They don’t add anything.

About meg

I think planets are cool! I'm a new graduate student in Planetary Science at Caltech, and at the moment I'm interested in planetary geophysics of terrestrial planets and moons. I'm originally from Cortlandt Manor, NY, and I did my undergrad at MIT, where I got heavily involved in student theater - a hobby I hope to continue through grad school, time permitting... I also like to read sci-fi/fantasy novels, obsess about English history, and play frisbee.

ha sounds like that “geek” wasn’t so geeky after all… he had a girlfriend without the help of the show!
