Sarcastic Fringehead

That’s the name of one of the fish we saw at the aquarium, native to California I guess.  I thought the name was funny, but it’s a pretty ugly fish:

Sarcastic Fringehead

On Sunday we went to Venice Beach and walked around the shops and touched the Pacific Ocean (cold!).  Then we drove through Beverly Hills a little and went to the Paley Media Center, which is a TV and radio archive.  Kinda neat.  Monday and Tuesday, I mostly left Amanda and Drew on their own and they went to see the Tonight Show and the Price is Right.  I started classes instead of going with – not quite as fun, I’m sure.

Well, the quarter is about to start for real now (so far all of my classes have just been about planning logistics), and I have to really get into the research too.   I’m mostly looking forward to it, but it seems like a lot in not much time…like always I guess.

About meg

I think planets are cool! I'm a new graduate student in Planetary Science at Caltech, and at the moment I'm interested in planetary geophysics of terrestrial planets and moons. I'm originally from Cortlandt Manor, NY, and I did my undergrad at MIT, where I got heavily involved in student theater - a hobby I hope to continue through grad school, time permitting... I also like to read sci-fi/fantasy novels, obsess about English history, and play frisbee.
