It seems that the closer the quarter comes to being over, the more things keep popping up that have to be done before then. The most immediate things are the two class projects I have to finish within the next two weeks. They’re each supposed to be focused on ‘original science,’ so they’re kind of more like UROPs than class projects…and these quarters are very short! For one project, I’m using a finite element code to look at crater retention in ice with different properties, and I just realized I (completely accidentally) named my output file for the stresses ‘stressout.dat,’ which is pretty appropriate.
I’m not going to LPSC, the planetary science conference I went to last year. I’m kinda sad that I won’t get to see my friends from Houston who are going (and I won’t get that nifty velcro bag this time, 😉 darn..), but there’s really no way it would have been a good idea. It happens the week before finals, when all of my projects are due.
I did buy my tickets for Boston, for the week(end) after finals – yay! I’m really looking forward to that. But there’s only a week between the two quarters, so I’m also glad I’ll be back in Pasadena for most of it to prepare. Ugh, I can’t believe there’s a whole other quarter to get through still..I mean, I’m glad I have more time until the summer, but that’s a lot of classes in one year..I wonder how much my brain is holding onto.
So yeah, right now some superpowers would be really handy :-\
