Back in town, but not for long

I got back from the conference last night and slept a whole lot.  The whole trip was pretty exhausting, between all of the talks and my final exams and meeting people that are good to know in my field.  I had fun, though, overall.  The topics for the most part weren’t really *that* close to what I’m interested in specifically.  They centered on either detailed Mars geology (mostly using the HiRISE camera) or icy satellites.  There was one day (Thursday) that had more talks about the Moon and two even about Mercury, but at that point I was already really tired.  They were still neat.  And I went to one session that was almost entirely bogus and highly entertaining.  At least the first talk was.  It featured this video, complete with sound effects and everything.  I was surprised how everyone in the room held it together and was actually pretty polite about it.

Anyway, I’ve got one more final to take tomorrow and hand in on Monday, and I need to work on Mercury as much as I can over the break so we can submit an abstract to LPSC.  That would be good.  Then on Tuesday I’m off to D.C. to visit Shannon and Brian and home for Christmas after that.  Looking forward to the vacation!

About meg

I think planets are cool! I'm a new graduate student in Planetary Science at Caltech, and at the moment I'm interested in planetary geophysics of terrestrial planets and moons. I'm originally from Cortlandt Manor, NY, and I did my undergrad at MIT, where I got heavily involved in student theater - a hobby I hope to continue through grad school, time permitting... I also like to read sci-fi/fantasy novels, obsess about English history, and play frisbee.
