About meg

I think planets are cool! I'm a new graduate student in Planetary Science at Caltech, and at the moment I'm interested in planetary geophysics of terrestrial planets and moons. I'm originally from Cortlandt Manor, NY, and I did my undergrad at MIT, where I got heavily involved in student theater - a hobby I hope to continue through grad school, time permitting... I also like to read sci-fi/fantasy novels, obsess about English history, and play frisbee.

Latin 101

I don’t think I’ve mentioned this yet, but I’ve been auditing a beginning Latin class for the past three weeks, and I think I’ll keep it up for a while longer. It’s kind of fun, and — to the extent … Continue reading

Re: Is grad school the right choice for me?

I guess that questionable fortune cookie I got the other day is actually on the better end of the new depressing fortunes put out by Wonton Food recently.  Huh.

Two weeks in

My second week just ended – I can’t believe how fast that went!  And there are only 10 weeks in the quarter.  It’s already a fifth over.  This week was pretty busy, especially around Wednesday night, when I had two … Continue reading

Bike Update

I went to a couple of bike shops to try out some of the models I’ve read about.  I think I’m going to change my mind about the “comfort style” — they feel silly to me, very bulky and heavy.  … Continue reading

To-do list

Ok, there’s a bunch of stuff that I need to work on over the next couple of weeks (and especially weekends): Buy a bike: I think I want one of the comfort-style ones, even though I’ll feel a bit silly … Continue reading

Is grad school the right choice for me?

Panda Express doesn’t think so, apparently.  I got this in a fortune cookie yesterday: “There is always time for you to try a new path in life.” Thank you, Panda Express, for that inspiring vote of confidence.  Now back to … Continue reading

My first week is over!

That’s right, one week down and nine to go. I think they might go pretty quickly, but we’ll see.  So far I like all of my classes, although I haven’t actually registered for any of them yet (oops).  Luckily there’s … Continue reading
