I’m starting to get a bit more nervous about grad school really starting now…just about a week away. I still really want classes to start so I have more on my plate, but I hope they don’t kill me. I’m out of psetting practice…at least each quarter is only 10 weeks long! I also hope my classmates will make good pset groups. I have no idea who will be in my classes, since there are only a couple of other first-year planetary students and the other options have different requirements. My preliminary course list looks like this:
- Ge101: Intro to Geology and Geochem (yay 12.001 all over again!) – 12 units
- Ge133: Formation, Evolution, and Detection of Planetary Systems – 9 units
- Ge160a: Continuum Mechanics (may be difficult) – 9 units
- Ge165: Geophysical Data Analysis – 9 units
And then of course there’s like a million fun classes I’d like to take and am restraining myself from. Four classes is too much really, but not ridiculous. Normal is 3-4. They have an add date and drop date like MIT does, so I’m sure it’ll be easy enough to figure out what’s working and what’s not if it’s too much.
Oh! And there’s an “Organizational Meeting” for Theater Arts (3 units) on the second day of class – maybe it really does exist! Actually, I spoke to a girl who played Perdita in The Winter’s Tale last year, and she had a lot of dubious/fun insights into the theater arts process here…more on that later maybe.
Back to work!
