Yes, MS Word, what I was really trying to say was “Diagonal zing”

Why is the spell checker that comes with MS Word so retarded?  Is there a science vocabulary pack I can download or something?  I’m really tired of those squiggly red lines under perfectly legitimate words…and most of them aren’t even words that are that specific to science…this time it was ‘diagonalizing,’ as in a matrix.

On an entirely different note, I got this in an update email from the Vice President for Business and Finance at Caltech a few days ago:

I assume that it was by coincidence that, at the time of the earthquake, the Caltech Trustees were being given a tour of the Seismological Lab. I am told that they were impressed.

Hehe.

About meg

I think planets are cool! I'm a new graduate student in Planetary Science at Caltech, and at the moment I'm interested in planetary geophysics of terrestrial planets and moons. I'm originally from Cortlandt Manor, NY, and I did my undergrad at MIT, where I got heavily involved in student theater - a hobby I hope to continue through grad school, time permitting... I also like to read sci-fi/fantasy novels, obsess about English history, and play frisbee.
