Back from Boston

My flight got in to Long Beach yesterday around noon, and I was pretty exhausted.  I feel better after getting a full night’s sleep, but still kind of unmotivated to be productive.  Spring break for grad students (as far as I can tell) is just supposed to mean working on research stuff exclusively while there’s no silly class to get in the way.  Which is a good idea, so I’m trying to get motivated.

My trip was really fun, and busy.  I got to hang out with my ensemble friends (and ensemble alumni friends) a bunch, and met a lot of the new recruits too.  The show was good (Twelfth Night), and very funny, and it seemed to be getting decent audiences too.  The ensemble seems in good shape, although of course it’s not as good as it was when I was running it 😉 (just kidding).

I felt really weird being at MIT again, and I’m not really sure I understand exactly why I felt that way.  It was almost like nothing at all had changed since I left, except I had nothing really to do on campus and very little access to things.  Although my new alumni ID (which I already lost..) did give me door access, which was really nice.  I’ll have to get a replacement the next time I’m on campus, which will be who-knows-when.

Anyway, off to work this morning to try and remember what I was thinking a few weeks ago and pick up from there.  It’s sunny and warm!

About meg

I think planets are cool! I'm a new graduate student in Planetary Science at Caltech, and at the moment I'm interested in planetary geophysics of terrestrial planets and moons. I'm originally from Cortlandt Manor, NY, and I did my undergrad at MIT, where I got heavily involved in student theater - a hobby I hope to continue through grad school, time permitting... I also like to read sci-fi/fantasy novels, obsess about English history, and play frisbee.
